I think it’s a good thing when you have to really think about exactly how long you’ve been dating someone. I can’t answer quickly when asked. Not anymore. Today she turned 24. We’ll be the same age for a couple of months. We walked down to Front Street and had dinner and then walked home, talking about the same sorts of things we always talk about. It wasn’t an especially different night. It wasn’t crazy romantic or overly expensive or even something either of us are likely to remember for a long time.
It’s better than than that. We’re better than that.
A memory on top of a pile of memories, stretching to the sky. People say that the best part of any relationship is the first part but, damn, maybe they just never get far enough in.
