Eight Hours in the Eaton Centre
I got my iPhone today. It took almost eight hours. I really wasn’t planning on devoting that much time to it. It’s not like I’d be crying or even disappointed if I hadn’t gotten an iPod today. But, still, when I arrived at 8:30 a.m.ish to check out the line, I got whisked away into a magical journey of waiting, waiting and yet more waiting.
Eight hours. It doesn’t even seem real.
About a hour into my time in line, I realized I did not have my Social Insurance Number on me. And I remembered that they often need that piece of information to activate new contracts. So I made some calls and got the number. While on the phone, I asked the people behind me for a pen so I could write it down. All three of them indicated that they did not have pens, but that they did, in fact, have Blackberry, Palm and WM Mobile devices, all of which could be used to write things down.
It kind of freaked me out. I just wanted a pen. But then, really, I’m becoming one of them.
