Wii Fit

I think I just got Wii Fit. From Costco, of all places. I’ve been using this Wii Sniper thing lately, in the hopes of grabbing one as soon as the stores get them in stock. Today my tireless obsession finally paid off — I just got an email saying my Wii Fit order has shipped.

I’m not really sure why I’m so eager to get this game. I don’t have a solid history when it comes to committing to anything involving physical activity. One of the downsides to being kind of a creative person is that I am really good at talking myself out of doing things. I come up with bizarre rationales for laying around and doing nothing. Like that time in university when I convinced myself it was only right to skip classes when celebrities died.

But I feel like I’m turning a corner with Wii Fit. I’m committed to something now: something real. Or at least something virtually real. Finally I will be able to experience the thrill of hula hooping without all that cumbersome equipment and monetary investment. Finally I will be able to simulate running outside by jogging-in-place inside. Finally I will be able to do yoga without embarrassing myself in a room full of slim women in spandex.

Finally I will be Fit.
